Dr. Ramón Pérez Rosich, fully understands and promotes the principle of NIRISAB (Natural Implants Restored in Stable Alveolar Bone). To be able to follow this principle, three conditions must be fulfilled in all cases:

The proper implant selection and placement.

  • Adequate alveolar bone reconstruction when necessary.
  • Place the graft and implant in the position or as close as possible to the original teeth.
  • Computer models may guide where to place an implant in many compromised situations, but these programs will not take into consideration the principle of NIRISAB. It is extremely important that this principle is considered at all times.

  • Ramus Frame Within our armamentarium, we use multiple implant systems as well as custom made systems to accommodate the need of each particular patient’s need.

We treat advance conditions such us patients with severe bone loss due to trauma, infection, pathology (previous tumors removed), and previous radiation therapy. We evaluate each case individually and as a discipline, we make sure the patient understand their condition and all the possible alternative treatments.


It is a procedure often performed to replace lost bone due to tooth loss, trauma, and ill-fitting dentures. The bone graft is the replacement of bone in the portion of the jaw that anchors the teeth. It is commonly done to rebuild the bone structure beneath the gums to place dental implants or for teeth replacements.


In many circumstances, the patient may need additional bone to be able to place an implant. To help our patients, we have briefly set this section to describe the different types of bone grafts. We do offer all the bone grafting options.

When we obtain the bone from the patient’s own body, it is called Autograft Bone.
Bone graft fillers from other people is called Allograft
Bone fillers from animals are called Xenografts
Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP-2) produced synthetically is a protein that stimulates a person’s cells to produce the patient’s own bone.


Is the bone used from the patient. It is surgically harvested from another site in the patient’s own body, transplanted into the site of the defect. The mostly commonly used areas are grafting from the inside of the mouth, from the Iliac Crest or from the patient’s own Tibia.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Autografts:

In the best scenario, it is the patient’s own bone. This bone will have its own cells for regeneration but we do recommend all patients to study all the possible aspects.

Risk of pain, infection at the bone harvest site potentially lasting several months requires a second surgical site, the donor site and the recipient site. This means two surgeries, longer recovery time and additional anesthesia time.

Bone fillers from animals are called Xenografts.

Usually a large amount of bone is required from the donor site and this bone obtain must be of good quality.


Allografts are specially processed human tissue donated for the express purpose of being transplanted to benefit the health of another person. This bone is harvested in reliable tissue banks in the country.

Bone rejection is minimized because all the human protein is removed (eliminating the rejection factor) of the specimen leaving basically the bone structure made up of minerals.

This material will serve as a scaffold where eventually the patient’s own bone will absorb filling all the voids. Allografts is one of our preferred sources because we can order exactly the amount of bone, we can get to choose the specific type of bone whether it is cortical and/or medullary.

We can also order the specific amount and size. Allografts save the patient the second site surgery with all the possible complications we discussed before. Infuse, is an engineered synthetic version of human bone protein plus a natural carrier, rhBMP-2, is the body protein that regulates bone growth and healing.

This carrier and its protein provide the scaffold or framework for the patient’s own new bone formation.

Contrary to the Autografts, Xenografts or any bone fill agent, this modality will attract the body’s own bone building cells (stem cells) to the site placed and over time bone is formed.

The process is called osteoinductive. No bone graft is placed in the area. The material performs the job of bringing the patient’s own bone cells to the site.

Besides the different bone graft materials, in specific condition, we may coordinate treatment with Hyper Baric Oxygen (HBO) treatments to increase the patient’s ability to oxygenate bone regions deprived of proper blood circulation. These patients are again evaluated in detailed coordinating treatment with their physicians.
